 About the French Empire

• The empire was heavily connected to slavery.
• Tried to push French ways onto others.
• People were upset and requested and apology.
• Senegal was apart of the revolution and remains speaking French.

About Lucas

• Portrayed as a stereotypical black character
• He swears and is also sexist
• He is 'one of the boys' and not treat too differently 
• He's brave
• When he is treat differently, he is called 'midnight blue' by bullies however, all the boys get bullied
• Head teacher is black and so is the police officer, both people of high status.

About Assane

• From Senegal apart of French Empire
• Asked racist questions such as 'can black people swim?'
• He is an immigrant
• His father was framed for a crime and police were happy to put him in prison for it - racism
